From spooky Halloween trails to family craft sessions, discover our guide to making the most of October half-term in Wolverhampton.

October half-term is nearly here, and Wolverhampton is gearing up for a spooktacular week of family fun! With Halloween falling on Saturday 31 October, there are plenty of opportunities to get creative, explore local attractions and enjoy some autumn adventures with the family.

At Sanders Wright & Freeman Estate Agents, we’re proud to have been part of the Wolverhampton community for generations. Founded in 1934, we know what makes our local area such a great place to live, and we’re always keen to share ideas for enjoying everything Wolverhampton and the surrounding area have to offer.

If you’re planning activities for the school holidays, here are some local events and days out to add to your calendar.

Follow a Halloween trail at Wightwick Manor

Looking for an outdoor adventure with a spooky twist? Head to Wightwick Manor and Gardens, where the annual Halloween trail runs from 24 October to 1 November.

Families can explore the gardens, solve puzzles, follow mysterious footprints and take part in Halloween-themed challenges. It’s a great way to get the children outdoors while enjoying the beautiful autumn scenery.

Trail sheets cost £3 each, including a small prize, with normal admission charges applying. No booking is required for the trail, although visitors should check admission details before travelling.

Get crafty at Moseley Old Hall

For children who love arts and crafts, Moseley Old Hall is hosting a series of spooky craft sessions from 26 to 30 October.

Each day features a different activity, from making wool-wrapped witches’ brooms and clay monsters to creating flying ghosts, pumpkin suncatchers and Halloween hand puppets.

Sessions run from 11am to 3pm, with the last start time at 2.45pm. Activities cost £2 per crafter, with normal admission charges also applying.

It’s an ideal option for a creative half-term outing, and children can take their handmade Halloween decorations home to display.

Let imaginations run wild with Halloween crafts

Wolverhampton Arts Centre is another place to look for creative family activities this Halloween.

Little Art Lab is advertising a Family Halloween Drop-In Day featuring spooky suncatchers, paper-plate pumpkins, bat artwork, ghost decorations and Halloween wreaths.

The advertised price is £6 per child for one craft, with additional crafts available for £3 each. Children must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult, and booking an arrival time is recommended.

It’s a lovely opportunity for younger children to get involved in the Halloween spirit and make something unique.

Enjoy a spooky half-term in the great outdoors

You don’t need to spend a fortune to enjoy the school holidays. Wolverhampton has plenty of green spaces where families can enjoy a walk, explore the changing autumn colours and make the most of the fresh air.

Bantock Park is a great option for a seasonal stroll, while a family walk can easily become an adventure of its own. Why not organise an autumn scavenger hunt, looking for colourful leaves, conkers and interesting natural treasures?

Remember to bring your wellies and waterproofs, pack a few snacks and finish the outing with a well-earned hot chocolate.

Make Halloween weekend one to remember

With Halloween taking place on a Saturday this year, there’s plenty of scope to plan a full weekend of seasonal fun. Whether the children prefer spooky crafts, outdoor trails or simply dressing up and decorating the house, there are lots of ways to make the occasion special.

For those looking for more activities, it’s worth checking the latest listings from local attractions, community venues and Wolverhampton’s leisure centres, as additional events and family sessions may be available during the holidays.

Always check event dates, prices and booking requirements directly with the organiser before setting off.
